Chicago Artist Anoush Bargamian Opens First Solo Exhibition

Chicago-based artist Anoush Bargamian is presenting her first solo show, "Stories We Carry: Memories, Color, Childhood, & Belonging," at AIR Studio + Gallery in Glencoe, Illinois through October 31, 2026.

The exhibition features encaustic paintings from two series: "Pajama Party," which explores childhood memories through repeated marks and gestural abstraction, and "Scattered," which draws on Bargamian's family history and the 1915 Armenian Genocide. In the latter series, pomegranate seeds scattered across surfaces in shades of red symbolize both the diaspora and Armenian cultural heritage.

Bargamian works in encaustic, layering beeswax, oil, and pigment to create textured, meditative compositions. The exhibition opening was held October 3, and Bargamian will present an artist talk on October 17.
