Ani Haroian to Receive ANCA's Vahan Cardashian Award
Ani Haroian to be honored with Vahan Cardashian Award at ANCA ER Gala
The Armenian National Committee of America Eastern Region will honor Ani Haroian with the 2026 Vahan Cardashian Award at its gala on December 5, 2026, in Warwick, Rhode Island. The award recognizes lifetime service advancing the Armenian Cause. Haroian, granddaughter of Genocide survivors from Yozgat, rose through AYF-YOARF youth organizations and served nearly five decades in the Providence ARF chapter, becoming the first woman on the ARF Eastern Region Central Committee. As chair of the ANC of Rhode Island, she built it into one of the country's most effective chapters and led the 2012 effort that made Rhode Island's House the first government body worldwide to pass a resolution supporting Artsakh's independence. Haroian also held positions in Rhode Island state government and Providence municipal administration under multiple elected officials.
