Zvartnots Temple Gets New Artistic Lighting System
Temple of Light: New illumination system unveiled at Zvartnots Historical and Cultural Reserve-Museum
Armenia has unveiled a new illumination system at Zvartnots Historical and Cultural Reserve-Museum, one of the country's most significant architectural monuments. The lighting project, officially presented during a cultural event called "Temple of Light," took nearly three years to complete and cost 26.2 million drams, with funding from both the state budget and institutional reserves.
The project was implemented by the Service for the Protection of Historical Environment and Historical-Cultural Museum-Reserves under Armenia's Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. Government officials, including Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, attended the unveiling ceremony.
The lighting installation is part of broader conservation efforts at the UNESCO World Heritage site. Over the past three years, approximately 170 million drams in state funding have supported multiple improvements, including paving replacement, irrigation system overhaul, wine press restoration, and roof renovation. The site saw visitor numbers increase by nearly 15% in the first half of 2026 compared with the prior year.
