White House to Host UFC Event for 250th Anniversary
White House erects UFC cage ahead of US 250th anniversary celebrations
The White House is constructing a UFC fighting cage on its South Lawn for a major sporting event scheduled for June 14, coinciding with celebrations of America's 250th anniversary of independence.
Workers are assembling an octagon-shaped ring with wire-mesh fencing and thousands of temporary seating. President Donald Trump has described the event, titled UFC Freedom 250, as the "biggest event" the UFC has ever held, featuring an arena directly outside the White House.
According to reports, the UFC is investing approximately $60 million in the project. The construction marks an unprecedented use of White House grounds for a professional sporting event of this scale.
