The Armenian Museum of America will host "Music in Color: Oudflections" on June 11 in Watertown, Massachusetts, featuring legendary oud virtuoso John Berberian and contemporary musician Antranig Kzirian. The performance celebrates Armenian musical traditions across two generations, blending classical compositions, folk traditions, improvisation and modern interpretation.

The oud, a fretless pear-shaped string instrument central to Middle Eastern and Armenian music for centuries, holds sacred status in Western Armenian culture for its expressive sound. Among Armenian Americans, it remains an important cultural symbol connecting diaspora communities to their heritage.

Berberian, a Columbia University graduate, has performed at Lincoln Center and recorded with major labels including RCA and Verve. Kzirian, known for experimental performances and genre-crossing collaborations, teaches at UCLA and co-founded TAQS.IM. Tickets are $40; admission is free for museum members. RSVP via Eventbrite is required.
