New Bilingual Children's Book Series Launches with Armenian Focus
New bilingual children’s book: “Loucine and the Doll That Walked to Aleppo”
Lebanese-Armenian author Dr. Shoghig Kaloussian has released "Loucine and the Doll That Walked to Aleppo," the first book in the Apricot Tree Tales series—a collection of bilingual children's books designed to introduce young readers to Armenian history and heritage.
The story follows a girl named Loucine and her rag doll during the Armenian exodus to Aleppo, told through a child's perspective with age-appropriate narrative. Each book in the series appears in both English and Western Armenian on facing pages, supporting language preservation efforts for the UNESCO-designated endangered language.
Kaloussian, an assistant professor of applied linguistics at Haigazian University in Beirut, aims to create books suitable for family reading and classroom use. The second title, "Annie and the Old Photograph from Marash," is scheduled for July 2026 publication. The book is available through the Hamazkayin Bookstore.
