NAASR to Host Talk on Armenian Heritage in Tiflis
NAASR to host talk on Armenian presence in Tiflis
The National Association for Armenian Studies and Research will host a lecture by Dr. Hayk Demoyan on May 28, 2026, examining the Armenian presence in Tiflis (Tbilisi). The event, titled "Tiflis: An Illustrated History of Its Armenian Heritage," will take place at 7:30 p.m. Eastern at NAASR's headquarters in Belmont, Massachusetts, with online access via Zoom and YouTube.
Demoyan's presentation will draw from his 2024 publication documenting the Armenian intellectual, economic, and cultural contributions to the South Caucasus city before and after Russian imperial expansion. Tiflis historically served as a center where Armenian and Georgian communities coexisted for centuries.
Demoyan is an independent researcher and former director of the Armenian Genocide Museum and Institute in Yerevan. He was a Fulbright scholar at Harvard University's Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies from 2017 to 2018. The event is free and open to the public, with a reception following the program.
