Lousé Foundation Uses Art Therapy to Support Displaced Families

The Lousé Foundation, a Yerevan-based nonprofit rehabilitation center, is expanding its support services for families affected by displacement from Nagorno-Karabakh. Art therapist Anahit Ohanyan, herself displaced, now leads creative workshops for mothers of children with disabilities, helping them process emotions and build confidence through self-expression. The foundation, established in 2018, provides comprehensive services including an inclusive karate program for children with Down syndrome, autism, and cerebral palsy. Recently, foundation staff and program participants visited the United States through Glendale's Sister Cities Program, touring rehabilitation centers and exchanging best practices. Director Gohar Galstyan noted that while American systems offer strong institutional structures, Armenian specialists demonstrate innovation in adapting limited resources creatively.
