Golden Apricot Film Festival Opens with Immersive Art Installation
Golden Apricot to open with immersive Chora Gavit: A Score for Moving Bodies installation-performance
The 23rd Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival will open July 13 with an immersive installation-performance titled "Chora Gavit: A Score for Moving Bodies." Presented in collaboration with the hosq Foundation, the project transforms the festival entrance into a participatory sound environment rather than a traditional opening ceremony.
Musicians will be positioned throughout the foyer, creating an evolving sonic landscape where each visitor experiences a unique version based on their movement and listening position. The space itself becomes an equal co-creator of the work alongside the composer and performers.
The title combines "chora," an ancient Greek philosophical concept referring to spaces of emergence and possibility, with "gavit," the traditional entrance hall of an Armenian church. The project applies principles of site-specific art, where venue, architecture, sound, and human movement collectively form the artistic experience.
