Global campaign launches for Hovannisian Library in Yerevan

A worldwide fundraising effort has begun to complete the Richard G. Hovannisian Library in Yerevan, Armenia. The library will house over 10,000 books and documents collected by the late UCLA professor, a pioneering scholar of Armenian history and genocide studies. Hovannisian, born to genocide survivors in California, founded UCLA's Armenian history program and authored the definitive four-volume "The Republic of Armenia." His oral history collection resides at USC's Shoah Foundation. The library, under construction in central Yerevan, will serve as a research center and cultural space hosting scholarly panels and educational programming. While the Hovannisian family and Armenian institutions have funded initial construction, the campaign seeks donations for final outfitting, archival work, and future operations. Tax-deductible contributions are available through Creative Armenia's website.
