Catholicos Aram I Celebrates Armenia’s Independence Day

Catholicos Aram I, the spiritual leader of the Armenian Apostolic Church's Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia, presided over a solemn celebration of Armenia's Independence Day on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the catholicosate headquarters.
The commemoration marked the anniversary of Armenia's declaration of independence from the Soviet Union on May 28, 1990. The church has historically played a central role in Armenian national identity and commemorations, particularly for diaspora communities worldwide.
The Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia, based in Antelias, Lebanon, serves as a major spiritual and administrative center for Armenian Apostolic Church communities across the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas, including significant Armenian-American populations.
