Authors launch novel and graphic history on Armenian Genocide

The National Association for Armenian Studies and Research (NAASR) will host a literary event on September 22, 2026, featuring debut novelist Sarah Ignatius and acclaimed author Dana Mashoian Walrath. Ignatius will discuss her novel The Kaleidoscope of Destiny, which follows a 14-year-old Armenian boy navigating the 1915 Armenian Genocide. The story, set in Kharpert where Ignatius's family originated, explores themes of survival and shared humanity across ethnic lines. Walrath, who recently published the graphic history The Book of Genocides with Harvard University Press, will join the conversation about creative approaches to depicting genocide. The event takes place at NAASR's Belmont, Massachusetts location and will be streamed online. Kirkus Reviews praised Ignatius's novel as deserving placement alongside Anne Frank's diary. A book signing and reception will follow the discussion.
