Armenian PM Pashinyan receives Hessian Peace Prize
Armenian PM to receive Hessian Peace Prize for peace efforts
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has been awarded the Hessian Peace Prize for his efforts to advance peace and democratic reforms in Armenia and the South Caucasus region. The €25,000 award recognizes Pashinyan's commitment to non-violent conflict resolution with Azerbaijan, including a peace declaration signed in August 2025 with U.S. support and a subsequent agreement on establishing peace and inter-state relations.
German officials praised Pashinyan's approach to diplomacy and political negotiations over military escalation. The Hessian Peace Prize, established in 1994 by the Albert Osswald Foundation, recognizes contributions to ending violence and conflicts. This year's ceremony covers both the 2025 and 2026 award years, with the prize money awarded once for the combined period.
