Armenia, Russia in Ongoing Talks Over Food Import Restrictions
Armenia’s food safety authority says talks with Russia over import restrictions are ongoing
Armenia's Food Safety Inspection Body is in ongoing negotiations with Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision regarding recent import restrictions, according to a statement released to Armenpress.
Russia had requested that Armenia provide investigation results into identified sanitary violations, along with details on corrective measures and an action plan. The Armenian authority said both sides are coordinating steps to ensure compliance with Eurasian Economic Union veterinary and phytosanitary standards.
Armenian officials characterized the dialogue as "constructive" but declined to disclose preliminary details while negotiations continue. They said a full statement with final results and information on implemented measures would be released at a later stage.
