Armenia to Distribute 50,000 ChatGPT Edu Subscriptions to Schools
Armenian schools and universities to receive 50,000 ChatGPT Edu and Codex subscriptions
Armenia's Ministry of Education has partnered with OpenAI and local tech company Firebird to provide approximately 50,000 ChatGPT Edu and Codex subscriptions to schools and universities starting in September. The initiative, developed through the "Education for Countries" program, will give teachers and senior high school students access to AI tools designed with data protection and security standards for educational institutions.
During working visits, OpenAI representatives met with Armenian education officials, university administrators, and the Higher Education and Science Committee to establish governance frameworks and implementation strategies. Discussions covered teacher training, digital infrastructure readiness, and integrating AI into curricula while maintaining responsible use protocols.
Armenian officials emphasized ensuring all stakeholders—school principals, teachers, and students—participate in the rollout. The Ministry of Education noted it has been expanding digital infrastructure, internet connectivity, and computer labs to support the transition.
