Armenia and US Establish Critical Minerals Partnership
Armenia, US launch partnership on critical minerals and rare earths
Armenia and the United States have agreed to a framework aimed at strengthening cooperation in mining and processing critical minerals and rare earths. The partnership seeks to develop resilient supply chains for strategic resources essential to advanced technology and industrial development.
Under the framework, both nations plan to expand investment in mining and processing projects, enhance geological cooperation, and facilitate technology transfer to Armenian entities. The agreement prioritizes projects that locate separation, refining, and processing capabilities within Armenia, with financing and investment support mechanisms to be explored within six months.
The partnership also acknowledges the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) as a transit mechanism for critical minerals from the South Caucasus and Central Asia. Officials expect new mining capacity to become available by 2026 and beyond.
