Armenia Alliance to Accept Parliamentary Seats Despite Fraud Claims
‘Mandate is a weapon’: Armenia Alliance to take parliamentary seats
Armenia Alliance announced it will take up its parliamentary mandates following a Constitutional Court ruling on recent parliamentary elections, while maintaining its opposition to the current government.
In a July 6 statement, the alliance said the court's decision does not address alleged electoral fraud or resolve questions about government legitimacy. The opposition coalition, which received over 550,000 votes, characterized parliamentary mandates as "weapons" for political resistance rather than positions of privilege.
The alliance plans to use its parliamentary presence to defend citizens' rights, raise public concerns, and present alternative policy approaches. It stated the court ruling marks "not the end of the struggle, but the beginning of a new, more systematic phase" and pledged to continue political efforts both inside and outside the National Assembly.
