AI Hackathon in Yerevan Awards $105,000 in Prizes
Firebird Build Hackathon Concludes in Yerevan with $105,000 in Prizes and API Credits
A 24-hour artificial intelligence hackathon concluded September 26–27 in Yerevan, drawing over 500 applicants to develop AI-powered prototypes. Hosted at AI9 Startup Campus, the Firebird Build event was organized by Firebird in partnership with OpenAI, NVIDIA, PicsArt, and local technology groups.
Participants created working solutions across robotics, healthcare, environmental protection, and cybersecurity using OpenAI's Codex tool. PhotonicsAI won first place with an AI control environment for hardware integration, receiving $50,000 and $12,000 in API credits. Second place went to a team developing infrastructure for vision-language-action models in robotics, while third place awarded an autonomous security platform that identifies and tests software vulnerabilities.
The event distributed $80,000 in total cash prizes and $25,000 in OpenAI credits. Organizers described the turnout as evidence of Armenia's emerging status as a regional AI hub.
