Zamanigian bequest funds international fellowships for Armenian physicians
Zamanigian bequest makes AECP international medical fellowships possible

A substantial estate gift from Mary Ann Zamanigian will establish international medical fellowships for Armenian physicians studying ophthalmology, according to the Armenian EyeCare Project. Dr. Arpine Petrosyan has been selected as the first Zamanigian Fellow and will complete a yearlong fellowship in oculoplastics and neuro-ophthalmology at the University of California, Irvine. Zamanigian, who held a degree in radiology and worked at the Rhode Island Blood Center, was a longtime AECP supporter. Dr. Petrosyan plans to return to Armenia to apply her training and mentor future physicians. According to her cousin Dr. Gary Zamanigian, the bequest reflects her commitment to service and education. AECP works to eliminate preventable blindness and improve eye care access throughout Armenia.
