Vatican Radio Armenian Section Marks 60th Anniversary
Armenian section of Vatican Radio-Vatican News turns 60

The Armenian section of Vatican Radio-Vatican News celebrated its 60th anniversary with a concert at the Vatican on May 28. The section was established on May 29, 1966, through the efforts of Armenian Cardinal Gregorio Pietro XV Agagianian. Vatican Radio currently broadcasts in 57 languages, with Armenian being one of them.
The celebration featured a classical music concert performed by Italian musicians and a Georgian-Armenian flautist, Veronika Khizanishvili, presenting Armenian compositions spanning from the 1700s to the late 1900s. Vatican officials highlighted the section's role as a bridge for peace and dialogue within the Armenian community. Patriarch Raphaël Bedros XXI Minassian emphasized the importance of Vatican Radio's "credible and authoritative voice" in combating misinformation, while Cardinal Claudio Gugerotti noted the section's significance in maintaining spiritual connection among Armenian listeners worldwide.
