Ruben Vardanyan’s wife seeks international support for humanitarian visit to Armenian detainees in Azerbaijan
Veronika Zonabend, wife of Armenian businessman Ruben Vardanyan, announced plans to organize an international women's humanitarian delegation to visit Armenian detainees held in Azerbaijan. The initiative aims to deliver letters, photographs, and personal items from families, and to meet with Azerbaijan's Human Rights Commissioner.
Zonabend has sent open letters to international officials including the International Committee of the Red Cross president, Azerbaijan's Human Rights Commissioner, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs. She emphasized the visit would proceed through official diplomatic channels with safety guarantees for all participants.
Zonabend stated the effort addresses fundamental human rights—enabling families to know their relatives' condition and demonstrate they have not been forgotten. She stressed the humanitarian significance for those in prolonged detention.
