UN Panel Addresses Refugee Justice for Artsakh Armenians
ARS HRC 63 side event advances refugee justice for women and children of Artsakh

The Armenian Relief Society and Armenian Legal Center for Justice & Human Rights convened a side event at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva to address refugee justice and rights-based solutions for over 100,000 Armenians displaced from Artsakh in September 2023.
The panel, attended by a delegation of young Armenians from France, examined housing, land and property rights, cultural heritage preservation, and conditions for safe return. Speakers including former Artsakh deputy foreign minister Armine Aleksanyan and international law expert Silvia FernΓ‘ndez de Gurmendi emphasized that lasting peace requires grounding in human rights protection and accountability.
The Armenian Relief Society highlighted its humanitarian programs supporting displaced populations, while panelists stressed the distinction between emergency aid and securing durable justice for affected women and children.
