Two “Strong Armenia” candidates arrested in vote-buying and money laundering investigation

Two parliamentary candidates from Armenia's Strong Armenia alliance have been arrested as part of a criminal investigation into alleged vote-buying and money laundering, Armenia's Investigative Committee announced. Six candidates from the alliance face charges related to materially inducing voters and large-scale money laundering under the Armenian Criminal Code. Detention orders were issued for all six suspects; two have been arrested while four remain at large. The Investigative Committee said the pre-trial investigation is ongoing and did not release further details. Under Armenian law, all persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until convicted by a final court verdict.
