Turkish Officials Frame Transport Route as Pan-Turkic Project
Bahçeli’s ‘Turan Corridor’ reveals pan-Turkic ambitions behind Zangezur and TRIPP

Turkish Nationalist Movement Party leader Devlet Bahçeli has characterized the proposed transport route through Armenia's Syunik region as part of a broader pan-Turkic geopolitical initiative, calling it the "Turan Corridor" rather than merely a connectivity project.
Bahçeli described the route as a "historic line" connecting Turkey to the Caspian Sea through Azerbaijan and Central Asia, stating it would spread the concept of "one nation, two states" across the Turkic world. Meanwhile, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev continues referring to the route as the "Zangezur Corridor," terminology Armenia has rejected as implying extraterritorial passage outside Armenian sovereignty.
Armenia has consistently stated that any regional transport links must operate under its sovereign control and jurisdiction. The differing terminology and framing underscore ongoing disagreements over the nature and control of the proposed transport initiative.
