Six graves and a fountain at the Surp Garabet Armenian Cemetery in Üsküdar, Istanbul, were damaged in a nighttime attack on July 8, according to the Armenian Patriarchate of Turkey. An unidentified individual climbed over the cemetery wall and vandalized the graves and fountain before leaving the premises.

The Üsküdar Surp Garabet Church Foundation Board reported the incident to law enforcement, which launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrator. The Armenian Patriarchate condemned the attack, describing it as a violation of "sacred values and eternal resting places" of the community.

Officials thanked security personnel for their prompt response and expressed confidence the investigation would lead to the identification and prosecution of the suspect. The incident has caused distress among families with loved ones buried at the historic cemetery.
