Shemmassian publishes illustrated book on Musa Dagh immigrants

Prof. Vahram Shemmassian of California State University, Northridge has published "Armenian Immigrants from Musa Dagh in the United States: A Photographic Collective Biography," documenting the lives of Armenians who emigrated from Musa Dagh to America before, during, and after World War I.
The 200-page illustrated volume draws from previously unpublished sources, including hundreds of vintage photographs, family collections, interviews, and manuscript memoirs. Shemmassian conducted extensive research to preserve the stories of immigrants who risked being forgotten over time.
The book covers early immigration, family life, business ventures including rug and silk enterprises, military service, and traditional embroidery practices. It also addresses the community's commemoration of the 1915 Musa Dagh resistance. For more information, contact Shemmassian at vahram.shemmassian@csun.edu.
