Russian strikes kill nine and set historic cathedral in Kyiv ablaze
Russian missile and drone strikes on Ukraine have killed at least nine people, including four in Kyiv and five rescue workers in Kharkiv, according to Ukrainian officials. The 11th-century Dormition Cathedral in Kyiv sustained significant damage in the attacks, which Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko described as a "brutal assault on our people and our heritage." The strikes also triggered fires across multiple cities and left over 140,000 residents without electricity in Kyiv's capital region. In a reciprocal attack, a Ukrainian drone strike on the Russian city of Tula killed three people and wounded three others, including a one-year-old child, Russian officials reported. The incidents underscore ongoing military operations and civilian casualties in the conflict.
