Russia Temporarily Restricts Armenian Stone Fruits and Grapes

Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance announced temporary restrictions on imports of Armenian stone fruits and grapes effective June 2, 2026. The measure covers cherries, apricots, plums, peaches, nectarines, and fresh grapes, as well as transit of these products through other Eurasian Economic Union member states.

Russian regulators cited an increasing number of phytosanitary violations in Armenian shipments, including detections of quarantine pests and other safety concerns. The agency attributed the situation partly to Armenia's recent institutional reforms, which abolished the Ministry of Agriculture and transferred its functions to the Ministry of Economy.

Rosselkhoznadzor stated the restrictions will remain until both countries agree on measures to ensure Armenian agricultural exports comply with phytosanitary standards required by Russia and the EAEU.
