Russia restricts imports of Armenian fish and fish products following inspection
Russia has imposed new restrictions on live fish and fish product imports from Armenia following a regulatory inspection in late May 2026. The Russian agricultural watchdog, Rosselkhoznadzor, conducted audits of Armenian aquaculture facilities and fish-processing enterprises to assess compliance with veterinary and sanitary standards. Approximately half of the scheduled enterprises declined to participate in the inspection.
Effective June 2, 2026, Russia suspended veterinary certification for fish exports from Armenian companies, except for two facilities that successfully completed the audit. Those two enterprises may continue exporting to Russia under laboratory monitoring requirements. Russian authorities stated the restrictions will remain in place until identified issues are resolved and corrective measures are implemented by Armenian businesses and government officials.
