Russia suspends sales of 64.5 million bottles of Jermuk mineral water
Russia's consumer safety watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, has suspended sales of 64.5 million bottles of Jermuk mineral water across the country due to technical regulation violations. The ban, which took effect May 28, 2026, applies to natural carbonated medicinal table mineral water produced by Armenia-based Jermuk Group CJSC.
Laboratory testing revealed elevated levels of bicarbonate ions, chlorides, and sulfates exceeding established parameters. Rospotrebnadzor stated the discrepancies could mislead consumers about the product's therapeutic properties and pose potential health risks. The agency also directed Russia's state product labeling system, Chestny Znak, to halt sales of the affected batches. The suspension remains in force until further notice.
