Rubio and Mirzoyan Sign Three Agreements in Armenia Visit
A 40-minute visit, 3 signed agreements: Rubio-Mirzoyan meet at the airport
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan signed three agreements during a 40-minute meeting at an Armenian airport, according to a report from Public Radio of Armenia.
The signed agreements include a strategic cooperation accord, a framework agreement on critical minerals, and a TRIPP framework agreement intended to provide Western access to Central Asian markets.
The meeting occurs as Armenia faces mounting Russian economic pressure, including export restrictions. The visit took place during a pre-election period in Armenia.
Michael Carpenter, former U.S. President Biden's special assistant, discussed the broader geopolitical implications of the agreements in comments to Voice of Youth.
