Rhode Island Leader Elmasian to Receive ANCA Award
Stephen Elmasian to be honored with Vahan Cardashian Award at ANCA ER gala

Stephen Elmasian, a longtime Rhode Island Armenian-American community leader, will receive the 2026 Vahan Cardashian Award at the ANCA Eastern Region's 20th Annual Gala on December 5, 2026, in Warwick, Rhode Island.
The award, ANCA Eastern Region's highest honor, recognizes individuals whose lifetime of service has advanced the Armenian Cause and impacted their communities. Elmasian has served as chairman and co-chair of the Armenian National Committee of Rhode Island, and has been involved with the Providence ARF and Sts. Vartanantz Church.
Under his leadership, Rhode Island initiated Armenian Flag Raising Ceremonies, now held annually in five cities. A flagship program he helped develop has raised nearly $250,000 over two decades through flag sponsorships at town halls, commemorating the Armenian Genocide. Elmasian has also mentored young activists through AYF-YOARF for 27 years and coached youth sports programs.
