Rerooted Archive Submits Evidence to International Criminal Court
Carving pathways to justice

Rerooted Archive, a global oral history initiative founded by Anoush Baghdassarian and Ani Schug, has submitted legal evidence and firsthand testimonies to the International Criminal Court regarding the displacement of Armenians from Artsakh.
The organization, which began in 2017 documenting the experiences of Syrian Armenians amid conflict, has since expanded to collect hundreds of testimonies from Armenian communities worldwide. With support from the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation's Fellowship Program, Baghdassarian, a Harvard Law School graduate with experience at the ICC, attended an international investigator course in The Hague.
Rerooted's submission, developed with Leiden University and Harvard Law School, was accompanied by a public report titled "No Choice but to Flee." The archive now includes collections from Armenian communities across multiple continents, documenting repeated displacement patterns and efforts to preserve language and cultural identity across generations.
