Pashinyan says Armenian citizens should decide between EAEU and EU membership
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a campaign event that Armenian citizens—rather than political leaders—should decide whether the country remains in the Eurasian Economic Union or pursues European Union membership.
Speaking in Kotayk Province while on leave from official duties, Pashinyan stressed that his government's role is to present viable alternatives and let voters choose. He criticized what he called "hidden threats" from some international partners in response to Armenia's geopolitical discussions, arguing that such pressure is counterproductive.
Pashinyan rejected threats of increased prices, saying Armenia could overcome economic challenges through expanded opportunities. He also promoted his government's regional connectivity vision, describing Armenia as becoming a "Crossroads of Peace" that would unlock significant economic potential.
