Pashinyan Outlines Armenia's Multipolar Foreign Policy Strategy

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan outlined Armenia's multipolar foreign policy approach at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus meeting in Bishkek, emphasizing balanced relations with multiple global centers of influence to protect sovereignty. Pashinyan stated that lasting independence requires resolving regional conflicts, noting Armenia's efforts to deepen ties with Iran and Georgia while normalizing relations with Azerbaijan and Türkiye following their August 2025 peace agreement brokered by the U.S. He highlighted the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project, expected to create new transportation corridors connecting the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea. Pashinyan also noted Armenia has established strategic partnerships with numerous countries including China, France, the European Union, and India, and announced plans to host the UN's COP17 Biodiversity Conference in October.
