Pashinyan and Aliyev Meet on Peace, Economic Cooperation
Pashinyan, Aliyev discuss peace agreement, TRIPP and economic cooperation in Bishkek
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met August 31 in Bishkek during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit to discuss bilateral peace efforts.
The leaders highlighted a joint declaration signed in Washington on August 8, 2025, in the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump, and the initiation of a peace and interstate relations agreement between the two nations.
Key discussion points included practical peace measures: Azerbaijani petroleum exports to Armenia, transit of grain and third-country goods through Azerbaijan, and establishment of trade relations. The leaders also addressed the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) initiative, border delimitation efforts, and connectivity projects.
Both sides welcomed business community engagement and parliamentary and civil society contacts aimed at building mutual trust. They committed to continuing direct bilateral negotiations on lasting peace and strengthened regional connectivity.
