North Andover Junior Reflects on Small Chapter Leadership
Small chapter, strong impact

Nishan Baljian, a 15-year-old member of the AYF-YOARF North Andover "Sassoun" chapter, discusses the distinct advantages of participating in a smaller Armenian youth organization. Baljian, who joined the organization at age 10, currently serves as secretary on the chapter's executive team and regularly attends events including Camp Haiastan and Junior Seminar.
In an interview with the Central Junior Council, Baljian emphasized how smaller chapters foster closer relationships among members and require greater individual contribution. He highlighted skills gained through his involvement, including communication, time management, and leadership. Baljian expressed hope for growing the chapter's Junior membership, citing the organization's mission to invest in youth development. He noted that participating in AYF activities has connected him with Armenian peers across the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic region.
