Matenadaran Receives Ancient Akkadian Clay Tablet as Gift

The Matenadaran museum in Armenia has received an ancient Akkadian contract inscribed on a clay tablet dating to 1750–1712 BC, according to Public Radio of Armenia.

Prince Dani Badawi, a member of the Badawi royal dynasty, presented the artifact during a visit accompanied by Armenia's Ambassador to the United States Narek Mkrtchyan and Grammy Award-winning artist Mohombi. The guests toured both the Matenadaran Museum's main galleries and its Restoration Department.

The Matenadaran, located in Yerevan, is one of the world's oldest libraries and serves as Armenia's primary repository for ancient manuscripts and historical documents.
