Marriott Cancels Artsakh Tourism Package After Advocacy Campaign

Marriott Bonvoy has discontinued a tourism package to Artsakh following a five-day international advocacy campaign led by the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) and partner organizations.

The 14-hour tour, marketed as the "Karabakh: Shusha-Khankendi Tour," offered guided visits to Azerbaijani-occupied cities but made no mention of Artsakh's Armenian historical or religious significance. The Center for Armenian Research and Analysis initially flagged the package on July 27, noting that descriptions omitted Armenian identity from regional landmarks including the Tatik-Papik monument.

ANCA Executive Director Aram Hamparian stated that Marriott "had no business profiting from the suffering of Artsakh's ethnically cleansed Armenians." The coordinated global response across diaspora communities, media outlets, and coalition partners achieved the tour's removal within 120 hours. The campaign underscores ongoing concerns about normalizing Azerbaijan's control of the region amid displacement of 150,000 Armenian residents.
