Police in Yerevan arrested a 68-year-old resident of Masis after he attempted to exchange counterfeit U.S. dollar bills at a currency exchange point in a shopping center on Andranik Street. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, officers from the Malatia Division of the Community Police responded to a report and discovered that nine of the 100-dollar bills provided by the suspect were counterfeit among a total of 3,000 dollars presented for exchange. The man was taken into custody on suspicion of acquiring and selling counterfeit currency. His Nissan vehicle was seized and moved to a secure facility at the police division. The case has been forwarded to preliminary investigation authorities.
