Lexington gathering supports Armenian EyeCare Project’s mission

Over two dozen supporters attended a fundraising event in Lexington hosted by Harry and Katrina Glorikian to support the Armenian EyeCare Project (AECP). Guests heard from AECP Vice President Dr. John Hovanesian about the organization's 33-year history providing ophthalmological care across Armenia.
Key achievements highlighted included the Mobile Eye Hospital serving rural communities for over two decades, near elimination of retinopathy of prematurity in Armenia, and establishment of 10 regional eye clinics. The organization has transitioned from volunteer physician missions to a sustainable capacity-building model where local physicians operate regional centers and generate revenue to support uninsured patients.
The event featured remarks from AECP founder Dr. Roger Ohanesian and honored longtime supporter Leon Semonian on his 95th birthday. Khachen Wines donated beverages for the evening, which included traditional Armenian cuisine.
