Knights and Daughters of Vartan advance mission at 108th Grand Convocation
The Knights and Daughters of Vartan held their 108th Annual Grand Convocation in Philadelphia from July 29 to August 2, drawing nearly 200 delegates, members, and guests from across the United States. The five-day gathering featured business meetings, leadership workshops, elections, and special recognitions.
New leadership was elected for 2026-27, including Grand Commander Robert Avakian for the Knights and Grand Chairwoman Lily Sarkissian for the Daughters. The convocation included tours of Philadelphia's historic landmarks, recognizing both the nation's 250th anniversary and the city's significance as the Knights' founding location in 1916.
Gohar Palyan, liaison for the Knights of Vartan Charities Armenia branch, presented updates on humanitarian initiatives including scholarships for 12 university students, school and home renovation projects, and the Economic Sustainability Program.
