Iran Says It Is Prepared for Expanded US Economic Sanctions
Iran says it is βfully preparedβ to counter widened US economic sanctions
Iran's government has expressed confidence in its ability to withstand expanded U.S. economic sanctions announced by the Trump administration. Iranian Economy Minister Ali Madanizadeh stated that Tehran is "fully prepared" for the measures, which he characterized as leading to "another defeat" for the United States.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced a comprehensive sanctions package designed to isolate Iran from the global financial system. The measures include threats to financially isolate any nation that partners with Iran, as well as banks and businesses that refuse to sever ties with the country. Bessent described the sanctions as "the single greatest financial offensive ever" aimed at Iran, intended to "block every potential source of revenue."
