Global Environment Facility Chair to attend COP17 in Armenia

Diego Mesa Puyo, newly elected CEO and Chairperson of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), met with Armenian Ambassador Narek Mkrtchyan at the embassy in what officials described as part of strengthening bilateral cooperation. Mesa Puyo expressed commitment to expanding the GEF's partnership with Armenia on environmental protection and sustainable development initiatives. During the meeting, he confirmed that he will lead the Global Environment Facility delegation to the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), scheduled to take place in Armenia. The conference represents a significant international environmental event for the country.
