Georgia Armenians gather for Syunik documentary premiere

More than 100 members of Georgia's Armenian community attended the state premiere of "Syunik: The Last Barrier" on June 24 at SMG Theater in Alpharetta. The documentary explores the history, faith, cultural heritage and contemporary challenges of Armenia's Syunik province, featuring cinematography of sites including Tatev Monastery, Khndzoresk village and Karahunj stone circles.

The screening, organized by Gevorg Nahapetyan and brought to Georgia by Haroutiun Agasarkisian, examined both Syunik's historical significance and present-day pressures including border security, mining impacts and demographic decline. Tamara Nahapetyan, deputy director of the All-Armenian Student Association Eastern Region, opened the event with remarks on intergenerational responsibility toward preserving Armenian heritage.

Attendees remained after the screening for discussion on the region's strategic importance to Armenia's future.
