French Armenian Golfer Jean Bekirian Represents Armenia Professionally

Jean Bekirian, a French-born golfer of Armenian descent, has become the first Armenian professional golfer to compete at the highest levels of international golf. Born in 2002 in Arles, France, Bekirian turned professional in 2018 at age 16, becoming France's youngest pro golfer at the time. He has since won tournaments across Europe and competed on the HotelPlanner Tour.

Bekirian's connection to Armenia deepened during his first visit to the country in early 2024, when he visited Yerablur Military Pantheon in Yerevan. The experience, combined with his family heritage—his great-great-grandfather fled Armenia during the Genocide—motivated him to obtain Armenian citizenship that summer. He now competes representing Armenia, pursuing his goal of reaching the prestigious DP World Tour.
