SheCan: How FAR helps Armenian women rewrite their future
The Fund for Armenian Relief (FAR), which has operated for over 30 years, is expanding its economic development programs to help displaced women and single mothers from Artsakh build sustainable businesses. In an interview with The Armenian Weekly, FAR's U.S. executive director Bree Carriglio discusses SheCan, a 12-week business accelerator launched to support women entrepreneurs through mentorship and resources.
FAR, founded in 1988 in response to the Gyumri earthquake, has evolved from emergency relief to long-term development work. The organization now operates across four pillars: economic development, healthcare, child protection, and social services. Recent initiatives include the digital marketplace Hye Collective, which has attracted mainstream U.S. media attention and helped beneficiaries achieve greater financial independence.
