European Parliament Members Praise Armenia's June Elections
MEPs welcome Armenia’s parliamentary elections, condemn Russian interference

Senior Members of the European Parliament issued a joint statement on June 11 welcoming Armenia's parliamentary elections held June 7, describing the vote as well-administered and reflective of genuine democratic choice. The six MEPs commended high voter turnout and cited preliminary findings from the International Election Observation Mission, which assessed the electoral process positively despite a polarized political environment.
The lawmakers alleged that Russia attempted to influence the election through threats, trade restrictions, and disinformation campaigns—efforts they said largely failed. The MEPs credited EU support in helping Armenia withstand external pressure and enabling free voter choice.
The statement called for strengthened EU-Armenia ties, including economic diversification, expanded trade, visa liberalization, and deployment of the EU Partnership Mission. European lawmakers expressed readiness to work with Armenia's newly elected National Assembly on democratic and economic development.
