EU to Build Three Border Crossing Points in Armenia
EU plans three border crossing points in Armenia, demining to be first step
The European Union plans to construct three border crossing points in Armenia, with demining operations serving as a prerequisite for the infrastructure projects, according to EU Ambassador Vassilis Maragos.
Maragos announced the plans during a ceremony in Yerevan where the EU presented a modern demining machine to Armenia. He stated that clearing landmines from project areas is essential before construction can begin on the crossing points, though he did not specify their locations.
The ambassador emphasized the EU's commitment to strengthening ties with Armenia through investments in both security and infrastructure. He noted that the demining equipment, manufactured in Croatia, reflects European support for Armenia's post-conflict recovery and represents cooperation between the EU and Armenian humanitarian organizations.
