The European Commission has delivered €34 million to Armenia to help counter the economic effects of Russian trade restrictions on the country's private sector. The disbursement follows a recent call between EU President Ursula von der Leyen and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and represents the first installment of a broader support package.

Beyond the immediate financial assistance, the EU is providing trade facilitation and solidarity measures aimed at strengthening Armenia's economic resilience. Additional support will target sectors affected by trade restrictions, including agriculture, floriculture, and export-oriented industries through business matchmaking events and market access initiatives.

EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos stated that the support demonstrates European solidarity while creating opportunities for Armenian businesses to access regional and European markets. Kos is scheduled to visit Armenia on July 5 to advance implementation of the support package and discuss further cooperation measures.
